Install Citation Safe for Word (Sideload)
The Microsoft AppSource listing is currently in review. Sideloading works today and takes about 60 seconds. You’ll get a Verify Whole Document button in the Word ribbon that runs every citation through the same engine as citationsafe.com.
Heads up: Microsoft AppSource listing coming soon (currently in review). Sideload works today.
Step 1
Copy the manifest URL
The Citation Safe add-in is served from this URL:
https://citationsafe.com/word-addin/manifest.xml
Right-click here to download the manifest.xml if your Word build requires a local file rather than a URL.
Step 2
Add it in Word
Open Word (desktop or web), then:
- Ribbon → Insert → Add-ins → My Add-ins
- Click the Manage My Add-ins dropdown → Upload My Add-in
- Browse to the
manifest.xmlyou downloaded (or paste the URL if your build supports it), and click Upload.
Step 3
Use the task pane
The Citation Safe tab now appears in the Word ribbon. Click Verify Whole Document and the task pane runs every citation in the open .docx against primary sources.
A screen-by-screen walkthrough (with reviewer-mode screenshots) is at /word-addin/reviewer.
Test it right now.
Paste a sample brief with a few known citations and watch the ribbon button annotate every one.
