The Auto-Refund Guarantee

If we mark a citation VERIFIED and we are wrong, that check is refunded automatically, no negotiation.

Our measured error rate is published, with the last-measured date shown per layer and layers without a persisted eval run marked measurement pending, at /quality and /scorecard.

Fabrication Warranty

Solo and Professional each include a Fabrication Warranty on top of the refund guarantee above: if we mark a citation VERIFIED and that citation is in fact fabricated — the case does not exist — we pay you $100 (Solo) or $200 (Professional). The Fabrication Warranty applies only to citation checks performed by users on a paid subscription tier or a paid one-off purchase — free-tier users are not eligible.

One claim per account per rolling 12 months. Total Fabrication Warranty payments across all Citation Safe accounts are capped at $10,000 per calendar year; claims exceeding the cap are paid pro-rata from the following year’s budget. A claim requires our logged VERIFIED response with the citation ID within 60 days of the verification event. The warranty covers the existence of the cited authority only, not whether it supports your legal argument. This remedy is exclusive. In initial rollout as of July 17, 2026 — amounts and the cap are subject to review after 90 days of operating data. Full terms at /refund.

What's the difference between free and paid?
Free includes Layers 1-2 (citation existence and quote-match) for 3 documents/mo, no card required. Solo and Professional add higher monthly volume and priority processing. Deterministic stays on Layers 1-2 forever, by design, at the lowest price of any paid tier.
What is Deterministic, and why would I pick it over Solo?
Deterministic runs pure deterministic checks: the same Layer 1-2 verification (citation existence against CourtListener, quote-match against the actual opinion text) as every other tier, for $12/mo instead of $29, at the same 30 docs/mo volume — zero LLM in the loop, so the check itself carries no hallucination risk (a source outage or a gap in coverage can still produce an UNCONFIRMED result, but never a hallucinated one). Solo runs the full engine: the same Layers 1-2 today, plus priority queue placement, without switching plans as new checks roll out. Pick Deterministic if existence-and-quote is genuinely all you need. Pick Solo if you want the full engine as it grows.
What is Layer 3?
Layer 3 checks whether a cited case actually supports the proposition it's attached to, not just that the citation exists and the quote is accurate.
