Word add-in · free tier included
Verify citations without leaving Word
A task pane inside Word that scans your open document, verifies every citation against primary sources, and shows results without leaving your draft. Installs in 2 minutes, works today — also coming to the Microsoft AppSource directory.
Install in 2 minutes
- Download the manifest: manifest.xml
- In Word: Insert → Add-ins → My Add-ins → Upload My Add-in, then choose the downloaded file.
- The Citation Safe button appears on the Home tab. Click it, then "Verify citations in this document."
Same steps on Word for the web or Word for Mac: Insert → Add-ins → Upload My Add-in. For firm-wide deployment via IT, share the same manifest.xml through the Microsoft 365 admin center's Integrated apps.
What it checks
Existence against CourtListener's database of published opinions and quote match against the opinion's actual text — free tier runs both, directly from the add-in, with the same 3/month limit as the web app. Proposition support (Layer 3) is built and eval-published, rolling out in stages across paid tiers — it is not yet delivered on any tier today; live status is always at /quality. Not legal advice; human review always required.
