Sanction Shield — Warranty Terms

Version 0.9 (draft) · Effective July 14, 2026

1. What this is — and is not

Sanction Shield is a warranty offered directly by Digital Empire LLC, the operator of Citation Safe. It is not an insurance product, is not underwritten by an insurance carrier, and is not sold through an insurance license. Digital Empire LLC's payment obligation under this warranty is a direct contractual promise, backed by its own funds, not a pooled-risk insurance policy.

2. The promise

If you are an active Sanction Shield subscriber in good standing, and a court or tribunal formally sanctions you specifically because a citation you relied on in a brief was an AI-hallucinated (non-existent or materially misrepresented) authority, and that citation was checked through Citation Safe and returned a VERIFIED verdict before you filed the brief, Digital Empire LLC will pay up to $2,000 toward the monetary portion of that sanction.

3. Conditions that must all be true

  1. You held an active, paid Sanction Shield subscription on the date the brief containing the citation was filed.
  2. The specific citation was run through Citation Safe's verification tool and the result was VERIFIED — not UNCONFIRMED, not NOT_FOUND, and not a result you overrode or ignored.
  3. You retained and can produce the verification receipt (the Citation Safe record showing the VERIFIED result, its timestamp, and the document it applied to) and the filed brief itself.
  4. The sanction order identifies the hallucinated citation as a basis for the sanction.
  5. The claim is submitted within 90 days of the sanction order.

4. What is explicitly excluded

5. Payment cap and process

Total payout per claim is capped at $2,000 regardless of the actual sanction amount. Digital Empire LLC reviews each claim on its individual facts; approval is not automatic upon submission. Digital Empire LLC may request the underlying court filings, the sanction order, and the verification receipt before deciding a claim.

6. Filing a claim pauses new coverage review

The filing of any Sanction Shield claim triggers an automatic, same-day internal review of Citation Safe's verification stamp accuracy before any new Sanction Shield purchases are confirmed as active coverage, pending the outcome of that review. This protects every subscriber's coverage integrity if a systemic issue is found.

7. Cancellation

You may cancel at any time; coverage ends at the close of the paid annual period. Digital Empire LLC may decline to renew Sanction Shield for any subscriber at renewal.

8. No legal advice; no attorney-client relationship

Sanction Shield does not create an attorney-client relationship and is not legal advice. It is a financial warranty tied to Citation Safe's verification output only.
