Do not upload text containing Protected Health Information (PHI). Citation Safe for Medical is designed for medical literature citation verification only. See Terms of Service §1c.
Verify medical literature citations
Paste text containing PubMed IDs (e.g. "PMID: 9500320"), DOIs (e.g. "doi:10.1056/NEJMoa2035389"), or clinical trial numbers (e.g. "NCT04368728"). We check each one against a live public source, flag retracted papers and withdrawn or terminated trials, and report exactly what we found, including citations we cannot check yet (bare Vancouver-style journal citations with no identifier).
Do not paste Protected Health Information (PHI). Citation Safe for Medical is not designed to receive PHI and is not a HIPAA business associate — submit citation text only (case names, PMIDs, DOIs, NCT numbers), never patient names, medical record numbers, or other identifiers regulated under HIPAA.
Warning: do not paste patient identifiers.
Submissions containing SSNs, medical record numbers (MRN), full dates of birth, or other patient identifiers are rejected server-side. Our platform is not a HIPAA business associate. See AI Disclosure and Terms §1c.
Citation Safe for Medical is a citation-verification workflow tool, not medical or legal advice, and no professional or physician-patient relationship is created by using it. It checks that cited literature exists and whether it has been retracted — it does not evaluate clinical claims. See /disclaimer.
